All one way privacy films work by reflecting light. Essentially whichever side of the film is lighter will be the side you cannot see through, and whichever side is darker will be the side you can see through. Usually this will mean that during the day, when the sun is up the outside of the window will be lighter and therefore the side you cannot see through. Once the sun goes down and lights are turned on inside the building the film will work the opposite way around and you will be able to see into the building but not out from inside.
Yes, but not as much as you may first think. The human eye works like a camera lens. It adjusts to the loss of light and therefore compensates any major changes in light levels received by the brain.
Some examples are below –
Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of Film 100% – Light Perceived by Human Eye 100%
Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of Film 80% – Light Perceived by Human Eye 82%
Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of Film 60% – Light Perceived by Human Eye 80%
Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of Film 33% – Light Perceived by Human Eye 68%
Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of Film 18% – Light Perceived by Human Eye 55%
Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of Film 14% – Light Perceived by Human Eye 49%
Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of Film 0% – Light Perceived by Human Eye 0%
Whilst security film will strengthen your glazing to a certain extent it will not prevent the glass itself from breaking. The film is designed to hold broken glass in place. This results in much longer entry times for thieves and also prevents flying pieces of glass becoming a weapon when the window is broken.
No, all of our films are designed to withstand extreme weather be it very hot or very cold. If you have externally applied film we always recommend sealing the edges of the film with silicone to prolong the life expectancy.
On average our products come with a 10 year warranty however they will usually far surpass this. The exact warranty period for each product can be found on the product page.
Yes, you can view our full fitting guide here.
Fitting window film is similar to fitting a screen protector to your phone but on a larger scale. If you take your time and follow the instructions carefully you should be able to fit our films just fine.
This can sometimes be tricky. The easiest way is to place a piece of sticky tape on either side of the film in a corner then pull the 2 pieces of tape apart. The window film should stick to one piece of tape and the liner should stick to the other piece of tape.
We always recommend installing film to the inside of the glass where possible to protect it from the elements. Where you need to install externally due to either access issues or glass compatibility we always recommend sealing the edge of the film with silicone.
When fitting window film to curved glass you will need to shrink the film to the shape of the window. This can be done with a heat gun or if you don’t have one of those a hair dryer can be used as an alternative. We would recommend watching a few YouTube videos on how to shrink window film.
The basic tools required are a spray bottle, squeegee and craft knife. We would also recommend a glass scraper, straight edge, tape measure and soft lint free cloth.

Yes window film can be removed, typically the long the film has been on the window the harder it will be to remove.
Start by peeling back a corner of the film then with force pull the film from the window. If the film has been on the window a long time it may tear and have to come off in multiple pieces.
Once the plastic part of the film is removed you will be left with adhesive on the window. Spray the adhesive with soapy water and allow to soak for a few minutes. Use a window scraper and a scrub pad to remove the adhesive.
Yes there are a few tools which can make removing film easier –
Do not clean the film for at least 28 days after the film has been applied. After that the film can be cleaned as you would with a normal window however do not use any abrasive cleaners.
No, once installed the film should be left to cure and bond to the glass for a minimum of 28 days. When installed to a vehicle the windows should not be moved up or down for a minimum or 72 hours after installation.
This varies dependant on the size of the job, access to the windows, the type of film being installed and location. If you would like a quote for our installation services please answer a few quick questions here.
