Conservatories promise light.
What they often deliver… is heat you can’t sit in.
By early afternoon, this space had become exactly that: too bright, too hot, and not particularly usable. The kind of room you avoid on the very days you’re meant to enjoy it.
The fix wasn’t structural. It was smarter than that.
Instead of replacing glass or adding heavy shading, we applied External Dark Reflective Blue 20 – directly to the outside of the glazing.
And that changes everything. Because when the film sits externally, it deals with the sun before it gets a chance to build up inside.
The finish is a deep, mirrored blue – subtle, but with presence.
- From the outside, it sharpens the look of the conservatory.
- From the inside, the view remains open during the day.
But the real difference isn’t visual. It’s how the space feels.
- Solar energy is reflected away, not absorbed
- Glare drops dramatically, no more squinting or shifting seats
- Temperature stabilises, even on brighter days
- UV exposure is reduced, helping protect interiors
There’s also a practical side to it.
External-grade construction, scratch-resistant surface, and a film designed to cope with direct exposure, not just sit behind glass looking pretty.
As always with reflective films, the effect shifts at night, when interior lights are on, visibility can reverse. Something we always factor into the solution. 12m² later, this isn’t just a brighter room. It’s a usable one.
And with conservatories, that’s the whole point.
